This week’s issue of The Associated Press’ Technology & Tech magazine features a photo of a robot vacuum cleaner in a commercial with a “Made In USA” logo on the lid.
The product, the RevoBot, is available at Walmart and online through Amazon.com.
The Revo’s name, however, is spelled incorrectly on the packaging.
“The Revo Bot is made in the USA by a team of robotic engineers from the University of Michigan,” the tagline says.
“We know what makes us great, and we’re proud to be the first to offer a full-size, all-in-one robot vacuum in the United States.”
Walmart and Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Walmart says the product is designed for people who like to clean and clean up their spaces, while Amazon says it’s the world’s first robot vacuum that’s all-purpose.
Walmart is known for its low prices and the fact that the Revolbot comes with a $99 one-year warranty.
The article also says the Revos’ price is “only a fraction of a fraction” of what a comparable vacuum costing half as much would cost.
Amazon and Walmart did not provide further details on how much the Revols cost.
The AP’s report is a little more detailed, saying the Revocbots were produced by a U.S. company, and the company behind the robot was a Michigan university.
The website for the company, TechRobotics.com, does not list its current headquarters.
The company says it has “no affiliation” with the Revogobots.
